When we laid out to earn a brand-new Ghost video game, we wanted to maintain the core columns established in Ghost of Tsushima: having fun as a roaming warrior in Feudal Japan, offering flexibility to explore at your own speed, and highlighting the beauty of the world.
We also wanted to proceed to innovate. To produce something fresh but acquainted, we looked past Jin Sakai’s tale and the island of Tsushima, and moved our focus to the idea of the Ghost rather. At Sucker Strike we love beginning tales, and we wanted to explore what it could imply to have a brand-new hero wearing a Ghost mask, and uncovering a brand-new tale. This led us to Ghost of Yōtei: a brand-new protagonist, a brand-new tale to unravel, and a brand-new area of Japan to explore.
While we aren’t diving right into tale specifics yet today, we can expose that Atsu’s trip occurs in 1603, greater than 300 years after the occasions of Ghost of Tsushima. Our tale is set in the lands bordering Mount Yōtei, a towering top in the heart of Ezo, a location of Japan known as Hokkaido in present day. In 1603, this location was outside the guideline of Japan, and full of stretching grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers.
